90 chevy question

I have a 1990 chevy Lumina V-6 3.1. Its a Sedan. I was just wondering, when I go to take off, the engine revs up to about 3000-3500 rpms before changing gears. Is this normal because every other car I drive (like my moms, brothers, etc.)only revs up to about 2000-2500 rpms before changing gears.

If the engine feels like it's really spinning faster than the tranny can keep up, it's slipping.

Have a good tranny guy drive it and they will tell you for sure.

And when was the last time the tranny got a fluid and filter change?

That could be a factor depending on whether it was doing it before the service or not. Either way, time for a tranny guy to test drive it for a check out as Joe recommended.
