steering problem with nissan quest

I have a nissan quest 1996 minivan. was driving on the freeway when a crunchng noise started under the hood and then the steering wheel lockedup, when I forced the car to the side couldn't steer anymore, it needs to people to turn it now and there was also anti freeze running down from somewhere close to the belt area. Any idea what I am facing here?

Just a guess...

Your water pump siezed, the accessory belt broke & now you have no power assist.

solution

Knuckles was right and what happened was the bearing on the water pump went bad and it got locked and that burned the belt and loosened it so nothing was turning. changing the pump and the belt resolved the problem.

thanks to knuckles.
