greetings
my mother's '98 chevy malibu has recently been making horrible sounds when braking. more specifically, when breaking at low speeds (20mph-5mph, not breaking from 45 to 35). the sounds are very strange to describe, but they are very profound. whenever breaking at low speeds, a nasty, whirring or even bubbling-type sound is heard. this has been only happening recently (last two days or so). we are very confused about the cause of this.
any ideas?

If what you describe is metal to metal noise you need new brakes. I suggest a brake inspection very soon.
