Just unplug the a/c compressor.

Unplug it for now, but fix it in the long term.

The defroster uses the A/C compressor to help defrost and dehumdify the windows .

The defrost will still work. Had to bypass ac on mother inlaws taurus two years ago and her defrost works fine in the winter.

It will "work", but not correctly.

Again, defrosting cycles the A/C compressor to dehumidify as well as defrost.
