High Idle on '90 GMC Van

'90 GMC Safari Mini Van V-6, 100,000 miles on van. Van idles high (2,000 rpm) and will only return to regular idle (around 900) if you tap the accelerator pedal while in neutral or park. Pedal & linkage are not binding, complete tune-up 3 months ago (inlcuded new plugs, new wires, pcv, air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensor, EGR, EGR Solenoid, Map Sensor, pick up wires, rotor & cap). Just started a couple of days ago. No active or stored codes. Help?

Check the throttle body unit for loose bolts or a squished gasket...common problem.

Spray a little carb. cleaner around the TBI base/manifold and if the idle races/picks up, your problem is a loose TB or bad gasket.

A couple of bucks at any parts store.

Iagree with Joe check the gasket close seen alot of them leak.Maybe the idle air control valve is starting to go bad.
