Thermostat?

What's up?

I have a 1988 olds cutlass supreme with a v6/2.8 L engine.
The "Temp" light is illuminated on the dash. I have no leaks and the coolant level is ok. The water pump, hoses and belts have been replaced. I am thinking that the thermostat needs to be replaced? Can I just replace the stat or do I need to drain the coolant and flush and refill?

Happy Holidays!

Regards
Huntz

One thought. Have you ever used any of those radiator sealants? Those suckers could plug a radiator or heater core up tight so the coolant won't flow. If replacing the Tstat doesn't work that may be your problem.

On replacing the tstat, unless it was recently done I would suggest draining and replacing the coolant.

I agree with Fireman. Do the electric fans come on?
