engine swap / fuel setup conversion
i have a 1986 305 tpi camaro with engine failure.. what i plan to do is swap my engine with a 350 that is carburated but i want to convert it to tpi. being that i already had tpi on the 305 engine and i have the whole setup.. would it be easy/possible to put my tpi setup from the 305 and put it onto the 350? does this take long? and would it be a smooth conversion and would it be expensive? oh yeah... and would i have to purchase anything besides bigger injectors?

Yes it can be done. You may need certain components from a 350 TPI engine though as they differ from the 305. The injectors come to mind and possibly the computer and wiring as well.
Check www.google.com and look for "3rd. gen. org". There have been people there that have done this conversion and there might even be kits by now to facilitate that conversion as well.
In the long run, it is is cheaper to buy an already factory equipped 350 TPI Camaro. It will also be faster and more reliable .

i would buy a 350 tpi but the problem is.. i cant afford it... the 350 that im getting is being sold to me for 100 dollars. its a good running engine from a friend. i just thought i could take the tpi setup off the 305 and put it right on to the 350 with no problems being that the car is already set up for tpi. does the cpu and wiring HAVE to be modified? is that something thats gonna affect that safety of driving the car?

100 bucks? Watch out, the motor could be trash or might be an old time carbureted motor...might not work with the later model intakes and heads. What year is the motor and what's it from?
Yes, you must hook up the computer or the vehicle probably won't run. It also must have the right components set up for a 350 or bicycles in reverse will beat you. LOL. 350 TPI components usually differ from 305 ones.
Again, I suggest you visit the 3rd gen website I mentioned. Ton of wealth there and there have been many before you who have done this conversion and can assist you on the pitfalls and tricks of doing it.
BTW: This is technically not a "legal" conversion in most states as the 350 was not offered in the F body in 1986. 1987 was the first year. Also, it may not pass emission inspection either.
Do a little homework before jumping into it head first and spending a ton of money only to have a slow vehicle or one that you can't drive or get registered/inspected
