1989 Ford Taurus Transmission type ?

Happy New Year ! to you, Dear Moderator.

I am trying to help my friend from Europe. Hi has a 1989 Ford
Taurus HSO, 4 Door Sedan 4-S Body, 5 Speed Manual
Transmission, 3.0L V6 EFI SHO Engine. His transmission failed.
Please help us to find a good shop or store, here in Houston, to
be able to find the right part, an used one and send it to him. I
have problems while trying to find the right transmission :
nobody is sure of their choice. The VIN is 1FABP54Y1KA215116
and other codes on the transmission are: E9DR-7F097-A ;
1RBG-AG ; EGDR-DA ; No.014080 ; Date 9A16.
Thank you for your help and your time.
Florin Bonteanu.

I think you're referring to a Taurus SHO. Go to http://www.shoforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...ubb=forum;f=30

and ask the tranny question. It's a very helpful and nice forum with alot of good people.

You might also want to search at http://www.car-part.com

You can limit your search to Texas recyclers. Houston is a large metro area, so you should have no problem locating a used trans.

I agree with these guys and also try www.junkyarddog.com as well.

Watch out for used trannies like this. These cars have been driven hard and that's the likely reason they are junked in the first place!!

Get an opinion estimate as to how much to repair the existing tranny in the car now.
