98 Chysler Sebring turn signal

I have a Chysler Sebring lxi 1998. i'm having a problem with my right turn signal it is locked, the left turn signal works fine. I've tried changing the fuse and the light bulb and that did not correct the problem. Is this a serious, expensive repair? Everytime i take my car in for minor repairs they turn out to be major $$$$.

By locked,do you mean just stays on and doesn't blink? If so double check all your bulbs.I realize you stated you changed a bulb, but it only takes one for this to happen. And also make sure they sold you the correct bulbs.

I should have explained it better, what i meant by locked is that the blinker arm will not go into position to engage the right turn signals. My boyfriend said that something in the steering column seems to be blocking it and fixing it will probally involve tearing apart the steering column cover ect., something he does not feel comfortable doing and reccomends taking it to a qualified mechanic. What do you think?

Yes, he is likely correct. It may involve dismantling the column. In which case the airbag system may have to be deactivated.

Only qualified people with the proper tools, training and service information should handle this repair.
