ProStart Remote Car Starter

I bought a ProStart Remote Car Starter and I would like to install it myself. I asked the place where I bought it from how much it would cost. I would like to save myself some money and do it myself. Or would it be better to pay some one to do it?
I want to install it on an 1988 Chevy Corsica.

I suggest you get a factory wiring diagram if you're going to attempt it yourself.

12volt.com has some good information on alarm installs like this. Try there first.

ProStart Remote Starter Wiring ( What they don't tell you!)

When installing one of these kits, the main headache is that ProStart does NOT tell you that the yellow wire (ignition) MUST be split off to connect to ALL of the connections on the ignition switch that are powered when the key in in the RUN position.

eg. 1995 Honda Civic: Purple to Black/White.Yellow to Yellow + White/Black , 2 Reds to Thick White (12V+), Black to Ground, Tach to Blue/Silver Rings under hood just at firewall on driver's side.

Grey to Hood Switch

Follow programming to lengthen starting time by 1 second.

Enjoy.

Original post over 10 years old; doubt if it's an issue anymore.
