1986 Chev Sportvan

My 1986, V8, 305, 4B van will start fine, idle all day, then after about five - six minutes driving time it starts cutting back. When I press on the gas it seem to cut out; I have put on (used) vacumn canister, fuel filter, adjusted ignition tilming, and, oddly enough, everything I do seem to make it worst. Some thoughts please!!!!!

You don't mention the last time it was fully tuned up, start there. Put the timing back to stock specs.

Likely a tired carburetor in need of a rebuild at this age.

Sounds to me more like bad plugs or cap. Both would cause an engine stall under hard accelerationon the old HEI ignitions. If you sped up slowly, you could barely feel any problems.
