ford v8-v6 trannie swap
i have an 89 f-150 4x4 with a 302. Motor is ka-put. I have a rebuilt 300 (staight 6) that I would like to interchange. The bell housings are identical. Can I keep the same transmission, if I don't what will happen? It is the typical Ford truck granny first, four speed. I'm not sure if the sixes and eights used the same one. thanks for your help.

There's zero benefit to doing this. You will have a painfully slow vehicle that will be a virtual nighthmare to cobble together.
F150's with a straight six are TYPICALLY 2WD and quite light duty. Gear ratios and trannies differ.
Stick with your 302. Either have it rebuilt or get a used junkyard motor that will fit. Very large gamble on the latter.
