Angry How to get top dead center on a chevrolet 350 when you can't see the timining marks

i just did a head gasket replacement on my bud's '93 chevy van. i can not see the timing marks on the harmonic balancer or the gauge attached to timining chain cover. how do i get TDC so i can drop the distributor in?

yeah just take the motor cord off there and there is a 5 point allen head under that and just yank er out and there ya go

Pull #1 plug out and stick a long broom straw in sparkplug hole,
turn engine over by hand,until straw reaches its highest point,
drop dist. in if not right then turn dist 180 d. there u go.
shade tree machanic way but hay it works.
