steering lock
Help!! I have a 97 Chevy Cavalier,automatic. It is stuck in a parking lot. I can't get the steering lock to release. I put the key in and turn the wheel and ignition at the same time and the key will not go foward and the steering wheel will not unlock. It's about 14 degrees here but it has been colder earlier this week. Anything that can help would be much appreciated. My wife would like her car back.

Make sure the shifter is fully in the park position and that the button pops up/out. If not, the key will not release.
Try moving the shifter up and back to see if the key releases.
Barring that, wiped lock cylinder or shifter mechanism.
