Radio LED not lit on my Bonneville

I have a 1997 Bonneville SE (40th anniversary edition) that is having a lighting problem. The LED light showing the radio station and the time display has quit working. It started going haywire in the last two weeks. At first it would work intermittently, sometimes on, sometimes off. Now it is not on at all. The other dashboard lights are not affected at all, just the one I mentioned so I don't think a fuse is involved. The radio has two independent sets of controls, one on dash and one on the steering wheel.

Does this sound like a dealer only fix it and does it sound expensive to troubleshoot? I can live with it the way it is but would prefer not to. Thanks.

Burned out bulb inside the radio, wasted LED or other wiring problems.

Best bet is to take out the radio and have it repaired and do the R&R yourself.

You can take them just the radio and have them look at it, saving the labor of them removing it for you.

Autolibrary.org below should have the R&R instructions for the radio.

You could also call the dealer/parts counter guy and find out who does their warranty work on radios. There might be a local shop that will work on it as all the dealer will probably do is remove the radio and send it away to the same repair shop. Many times a radio repair shop can remove, repair and reinstall while you drink their bad coffee in the lounge. Just a thought.

Rough idle when cold

Hi I have a 1995 Dodge Caravan with a 3.3 v6 fuel injected engine.When the temperature is 29 degreez or lower when you start the van up it runs very rough and sounds like it is loading up, almost like when a carburator choke is stuck.It also blows out black smoke.After 5 min. of idleing it smoothes out and runs great the rest of the day.The van sets no codes. Does Chrysley have a service bulliten out on this problem? Any help would be great. Thanks alot. Harry

1991 Pontiac 6000 3.1 not starting

Help :( My 1991 Pontiac 6000 3.1 wagon doesn't want to start. I've tested the starter, it's getting power no prob. Car did start when we attached a starter button directly to the starter motor. The solnoid was corroded, so we replaced it. One connection just past the ignition was corroded, (sorry I don't know the names of these parts) so we cleaned it and greased it with the proper electrical grease stuff. It started okay for a day and a half but chugged occasionally and wouldn't idle properly. Then it would die completely. I put injection cleaner in the gas as well as gas line antifreeze/water remover this morning thinking it might solve the rough idle. It is now sitting in my sons' school parking lot. I looked under the hood to see if the wire connection we cleaned up might have been loose and found a small piston fully extended. It is attached to what my friend called a Nutral Safety Switch. Because the piston was clean and shiny, not normally exposed to the elements, I figured this is the porblem. However, I can't get the piston to retract to see if it is the problem. Anyone have any ideas?? Tks
