Question knock when accelerating after coasting

My 1992 Plymouth Voyager (6cylinder, automatic, 110 K mi.) has a problem.
At times, when I accelerate, after coasting, I get less than full power from the transmission. Then, a knock or clunk from the lower driver's side inner drive axle area, and return of full power in the way of surge. From that point, no failure until after I coast again.
This problem occurrs at random, but seems to show up more often on cold days and is increasing in frequency.
Other info: Original transmission, drive axles replaced by Chrysler dealership 9 months ago, transmission fluid looks good, no visible damage to boots or axles, no correlation to turning or braking, rpms/engine steady and smooth--only happens when accelerating.
Any advice or suggestions as to diagnosis and remedy?
Thank you in advance.

Did it do it before the dealer did the repair? I'd bring it back to the dealer to have a look.
