renault laguna timing belt

hey. ive a renault laguna 2.2 straight diesel. i have been told that the timing belt has sliped and i was wondering if somone could please tell me the possible damage that this could have done. please reply as this is a serious problem. thanks..hope you can help.

We do not get that vehicle here in the States. Renault bombed out here in the states in the 1980's due to the terrible quality of their products.

If the timing belt has slipped on an interference engine, the valves could be bent meaning major repair expense. A service manual or timing belt guide would tell you that. I suggest you pick up a manual for your application.
