Head Gasket - 1993 Ford Taurus

Anyone have any idea what a Head Gasket Job would cost me to have done in a shop?

Am from Canada, but assume that the US prices converted would be similar.

800 or so bucks, parts and labor, depending on the damage and if the heads are cracked, need work etc.

The 3.8 Taurus/Sable of this vintage is a 2 time loser as they have bad head gaskets and poor trannies .

Joe -- Tranny went with 2 days left on warranty -- then again about 3 years later --- 800 US = about 1200 bucks Can. YUK

Guess will have to decide whether to dump it or not --- probably worth about $500 -

Thanks for your reply

A shop can easily use a gas analyzer to check for the presence of hydrocarbons in the coolant. If any are found, bad head gasket.

Verify that first before heave hoing it.

Hello there, figured I would throw in my .02 on this engine since I have one in my t-bird. Stay far far away, you will fix the head gasket, and the tranny will blow again, you will fix the tranny, and the head gasket will go again.

Take your $500 and run, If I didn't owe so much money on mine I would.
