Persnickety windshield wipers

It's a 1996 Mercury Villager minivan. The windshield wipers sometimes work, sometimes not. I have tapped on the wiper motor during a time when they were not working with no result. I'm sure its electrical. Would anyone know if there is an electrical module under the dash that might need replacement? The motor itself looks like it has a module attached, but at over $100 for an aftermarket motor I don't want to change it without some knowledge.

Have you tried looking in one of those make/model/year specific books for your mini van? You can get them at your fav auto parts store usually for under $20.

It also can help when the great guys on here tell you to check the such and such relay switch, you can look in your book and find out where that switch is to follow the advice given.

Yes, Kay is right. You should have a manual to diagnose it correctly.

Try looking in autolibrary.org below.
