F-150 Transmission fluid/filter?

Hi,
I own a 1991 Ford F-150 4x4 extended cab with the 5.0L motor, and Auto transmission.
It currently has 178,000 miles on it.I take good care of it,change oil and filter every 3,000 miles,etc...
In the summer I tow a 29ft trailer (appox 6500 lbs).On weekends.
I added a transmission cooler years ago to help.
I drive this every day appox 50 miles min.
I live in NewEngland and wondered how often you recomend changing the tranny fluid and filter?Any idea on appox cost for this
at small local mechanic?
also are valve cover leaks common on these?Ive replaced three gaskets total. one side twice then the other side?Very expensive
for passenger side?Other than that a awsome motor!

If you tow, that is servere service. The fluid and filter should be changed every 25k or sooner.

My truck? I'd change the fluid and filter every towing season. Cheap enough if you do it yourself.

Yes, the valve cover gaskets are a PITA---a lot in the way. That's why I drive older vehicles, just as reliable and easier to service .
