uneven spark

I currently own both a 97 Mercury Mountaineer 5 liter and a 95 Ford Ranger with a 3 liter. Each time I go to change the spark plugs the passenger side looks brand new and the drivers side plugs are worn down greatly. Changing plug and wire styles seems to not make a difference. Could this be linked to the distributorless ignition? What can I do to even out the spark?

It seems to me that the uneven wear can not be good for the performance of the vehicles. What is the common thread between the two vehichles to cause this condition and should I be concerned?

I'm not sure I understand the problem or question.
