oil Pump

The oil light just came on in my Toyota truck. The oil pump is located inside the oil pan. How can the oil pump be check to insure its not defected. How is the oil-sending unit checked? Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Start with using a manual oil pressure checking device. You can rent one of these. If pressure is up to specs, then you can start with the sender unit.
