changed the vats's out , still not working

I have a 89 iroc , V_8 port inj . My vats ign broke , and the car would not start. after buying the ign , and going to the dealer to get the correct key i cjanged it all out but it still act's the same. when I took out the old ign I could see one of the wires was broke . but it still not starting . is there some thing i am missing ? the guy at the dealer was not a reguler parts guy could he have given me the wrong key . or is there some thing else that could be triggering the vat's? I am getting no responce from the starter when i turn the key. help any thing you might think of to check before I take it in? thanks for your time.

The broken VATS wire is the reason for the no start condition. Fix it and should be good to go.

The dealer has a tool that matches the resistance value of the old key to the new one.
