intermittent total electical failure

intermittent total electical failure

Have an 85 S10blazer that runs and starts fine normally. Have on 4 occassions recently started it and it starts fine, runs for a few seconds, then totally fails. There are no lights or any power. It has on all 4 occassions restarted the next day and everything is fine. It does occasionally have a very momentary flicker of power while driving. (lights radio, etc. all just flash)

Check for bad grounds and a discharging alternator. Start with the posts and links in my signature file below.

My neighbor had this problem and it was a ring terminal type ground up near the fusebox that corroded/got loose.
