A 90 model? Sounds like tuneup time. Plug wires and all. Wires are drawing moisture.

distributor cap

I ran into this problem before this might be your problem also if your car has a distributor cap.
What happens is moisture gets inside and you get a massive missfire from the moisture. Steam as it hits your exaust manifold or other hot parts gets inside the cap.You need to remove it and dry it out well and try it again.

No distributor cap on this model--last year for that in this model was 1985. After that, all DIS on these FWD 3.8 engines. The rear drive 3.8's had caps and rotors for the most part (the Grand National and 89 Firebird turbo being the exception)

Check the links and posts in my signature file---I agree with the wires.
