1988 dodge caravan overheating

1988 dodge caravan sport 3.1 4 banger..i think?
anyhow, it runs but overheats..has external fan attached it works internal fan also working..new thermostat installed, radiator working and flushed..unsure what else could be the cause. Please help! thanks

3.3 liter, 3.0L, or 2.5 liter. No 3.1 in a Chrysler of this vintage.

Could be anything from a blown head gasket to a clogged radiator, bad water pump, etc.

If the fan has been configured to run all the time, it will burn out eventually. The problem should be corrected without delay.

Best bet is to go through the cooling system if it has not seen maintenance in some time. Start with a new thermostat, hoses, belts and a coolant flush. See where that nets you.

If it is a 3.0 liter (the 8th digit of the Vin will be a 3), do not spend a lot of money on the vehicle. The 3.0 engine is very troublesome.
