Brake drum removel

I would like to change the brake shoes on my 1980, F-150.. I can't get the rear break drums off.. I know I have to take a torch to them, but exactly where do I apply the heat??

First try to loosen the self adjusters through the access hole in the back of the backing plate. The drums should then slide off.

Be sure to replace all hardware back there when you do the shoes.

I never cared for the heat treatment if it is not necessary, do like Joe sez, tricky, but try to back adjusters off, maybe a groove in drum. I usually have good luck with penetrating oil and gently tapping drum around the hub area.
