Question Question about '59 Ford & '54 Chevy

My Uncle had a big black 1959 Ford Galaxy hardtop convertible. The roof was a hardtop, but after unlocking two handles behind the sunvisors and clicking a switch the entire steel roof would lower into the trunk and it became a convertible. What was the name Ford gave this model?

I bought my first car in 1966. It was a two tone blue and white '54 Chevy Bel Air. I paid $150. What size, in cubic inches, was that old 6 cylinder motor 230 - 250?

Before the ignition key was located on the steering column my old Chevrolets had the ignition key switches on the dashboard to the right of the steering column, but my old Fords had the ignition key switch to the left of the steering column. Why did Ford put them on the left?

Thank you!

I always stand to be corrected but I believe the Ford was a skyliner? Worth a small fortune now if it has been restored.
The std engine for that model chev was an inline 250/6cyl.
I would suspect the ig. Sw. was changed because of convenience to the driver. I had a 41 Ford that had Ig. Swx on coluum, starter button on left side of dash. When you locked ign, it also LOCKED the steering. Good thing it locked steering because it could be started by placing a quarter on back side of ig. swx.

Your 54 Chevy had a 235.5 ci engine. I used to have one.
