ford bronco idle (5.0)

AFTER A DEALER PERFORMED A TUNE UP A FEW MONTHS AGO ON MY 88 BRONCO (5.0L), THE IDLE STARTS "BOUNCING" BETWEEN 500-1000 RPM UNTIL IT FINALLY "BOUNCES" LOW ENOUGH TO STALL. I'M NOT GOING BACK TO THE SAME PLACE FOR ANOTHER FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS WORTH OF NOTHING, WHERE DO I START (SINCE WE KNOW IT'S NOT PLUGS,WIRES, ETC..). A LIST OF MOST LIKELY TO LESS LIKELY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Its hard to tell, having your codes read would be a good place to start. Also check to make sure your vacuum lines are all intact and not leaking. Next check all of your sensor wiring (IAC, CMP, B-MAP, CP, MAF etc.) Is it carbureted or injected? If its Injected you have a TFI setup, if not it’s a Duraspark.

1988 Broncos are MFI injected 5.0 engines.

Original poster: Kill the caps, no need to shout.

Check your throttle body for dirt, IAC for proper operation, and make sure you don't have a vacuum leak.
