vehicle identification number

Is there a site where you can check a car's
vehicle identification number for free, for lemon checks?

carfax used to give you info as to whether there was a problem, but thats all you get free, details cost you. Are you good friends with a dealer that uses carfax and is already a member? thats the way I usually go.

thank you

I don't know any dealers, but I will see if anyone I know does. Thanks for the reply.

The report will set you back $15.00 and you can buy it online. Well worth it.

The "thrifty" among us would ask the dealer to foot the bill for it or furnish the printout and post it in the vehicle's windows. (Some due to advertise it is indeed clean).

thanks again

I am checking out auctions trying to find a good deal on a used car. I know the $15.00 is a good buy, but it can get kind of expensive if you check out a lot of different cars. I was hoping there was a cheaper way, or a car site that would offer it. I guess that is expecting too much though. Just thought I would try to see if there was such a place out there on the net.

carfax

Carfax offers unlimited vehicle reports for a 60 day period for a $19.99 fee. Well worth it when used car shopping.
