Emissions Tube Repair?

I own a 1991 Ford F-150 Pick-up with the 5.0L motor.
There is a tube that connects near the front exhaust, its some kind of emmisions tube?
It has rotted and disconected where it attaches to the pipe.I temp. patched it with muffler patch. It is holding for now,but I was told today by someone that theres a tube kit to repair this??
If so is it easy to do?How does it attach to the pipe where its broken? Also do I get it at the auto supply store like autozone?
or am I better off having the muffler shop repair it?
Would this affect the way the truck runs if its leaking? Thanks

A repair kit may be available ,but why not check and see if Ford can sell you the proper part to repair your truck.

If you mean the AIR (air pump, Air Injection Reactor) tubes, Autozone or any parts retailer, or the Ford dealer can order a new tube.

You cannot repair the tube, it's wasted. Must be replaced---do not delay.

As for exhaust pipes, have a shop do the work if you do not have an air compressor or torch. It is nasty, gritty work without the right tools.
