Ford Truck idles high

1993 Ford F150, 302 Liter, 4WD, 185,000 miles. I just replaced my plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. engine runs great but idle stays stuck very high. when it does idle down, RPM's drop to about 6000 or 7000. but just touch the gas and the idle resets at about 16000 to 20000 and will not drop back down unless you wait for a couple of minutes. Iknow this cant be good for transmission. A friend told me that the throttle body must be gummed up?

Yup. Gummed up throttle body, vacuum leak or wasted Idle Air control valve.

Get the Ford approved throttle body cleaner and clean it out. Start there and tell us what you find.
