water pump?

1990 Accord LX
190000 Km
How can I check to see if the water pump is shot?
Can the bearings fail?
How difficult to remove and install new?
Any comments appreciated
Cheers!!

You can test your cooling system/water pump with a pressure tester. It would be easiest to just have some one test it for you. The reasons bumps go out is because seals and bearings fail. Replacing it is fairly involved but do able with the right tools and a repair manual for you car.

It should be changed on that vehicle when the timing belt is serviced, or you could do it twice if the pump goes and wastes the belt with coolant.

If the timing belt is due, do both at the same time.

And always change the thermostat at the same time.
