Question Brake Light

I recently had a co-worker point out to me that one of my brake lights on my 1997 Dodge Stratus is out. Sure enough, the driver side rear brake light does not come on when the brakes are applied.

Is there a simple way to test what the cause could be for the brake light failure? I know if it's just changing a bulb or a fuse I can do it with a little direction (thanks to all of you here!). I would appreciate any and all suggestions, before I need to go to a mechanic!

Thanks,
BGH

You likely have a bad bulb. See autolibrary.org below for the R&R of the bulb/lamp.
