1996 Nissan Sentra, 1.6 litre engine,5spd transmisson, 100,000 miles. Iwas driving along in fourth gear, car popped out of gear.Pushed in on clutch, car will not go into gear.I can hear a slight rubbing sound with clutch in and shifter in any gear.I have had no problems at all. What happened? What type of linkage does car have. Thanks ahead of time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I say it won't go into gear I mean in any gear the clutch does not engage. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure this veh used a hydraulic clutch cyl and slave cyl. Check the fluid, see if you have any leaks. Set park brake, block wheels. While your buddy manipulates the clutch, look underneath and see if the clutch rod is moving.

You could be in for a clutch at that mileage. I agree with Darrell, however, usually popping out of gear is an internal tranny problem (not all the time).
