"Shifty" Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L engine with about 180,000 miles on it and it wont shift smoothly... It will typically shift when it gets to about 3000 RPM, sometimes it goes higher than that before it shifts. When I am going down the road, sometimes it seems like it is "downshifting" and then it shifts back "up". The other thing that is happening is that it will stall if I stop quickly.. Kinda like if you dont push in a clutch on a manual transmission.

It was low on transmission fluid not long ago but I added some more to it but that does not fix the problem.. I dont know what to do unless I take it to a mechanic which I dont really want to do right now. Can someone help me?

Good chance there is internal failure and it is wasted at that mileage .

Have a good tranny shop drive it--might get lucky and it will only be a solenoid pack and that would correct it.
