tranny troubles

1993 Ford F150, 4wd, 302 V8, 189,000 miles. first, an update. you guys have helped me with this vehicle before. Once with the replacement of the harmonic balancer, then it was running very rough, bad vibration. I replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Now it runs great. In fact, it runs so good, so strong, that it has too much tourque for the aged transmission. It's having trouble shifting now, and I'm sure it's life is not long. Is this a project that I can tackle myself. Good news is that I do have a mechanic friend that can help and guide me. I also have another vehicle that I can drive while the repair is in progress.

If you have access to a shop and good tools, sure, it's a cinch.

Get a Ford reman (FQR) tranny, that will have all the updates to the tranny over the original.
