89 Chevy Beretta Transmission

I have an 89 Chevy Beretta 6 cylinder, here's the problem. The car starts fine, and runs good when it's cold. After the engine warms up, the car still runs fine in drive, but if you stop, the car dies. To stop at lights or stop signs, the car has to be shifted to neutral and coast into the stop, and then you have to jam it into gear and hit the gas( usually resulting in spinning tires) to get going, and then the car runs fine until you have to stop. I had it at the shop, but they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Any suggestions?

Does it chuggle when you decelerate (much like a stick shift car when you forget to push the clutch in when slowing down)?

If so, bad torque converter clutch solenoid perhaps.
