Code Pulling

94' Chevrolet Corsica
3.1 V6
Auto w/air
47,500 miles

Service engine soon light has begun to periodically flash. I went to pull codes and found that the horizontil plug where you usually short the 2 wires on the top row right side were not next to each other but vertical. I still shorted them yet got no indication I was in the system. Called Auto Zone and as far as they could get me was that this is a change over year and shorting them don't work.

Is there any way to pull these codes without going to the dealer? I've got just about any type meter there is for electrical and HVAC.

Nope. I believe you need a scanner to do it. Autozone should have the proper scanner.

Yes, 1994 was a changeover year.
