Nissan Code PO115

1997 Nissan Altima, 4 cyl, auto trans.

The Engine Check light came on today. I ran the code and it is PO115: Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit malfunction.

The coolant tank is full and has not gone down since I filled it 2 months ago. The tempature gauge shows the normal operating temperature and seems to be operating normally. The belt is ok and does not seem to be slipping. The fans cycle on and off.

What do I do to repair this and get the light off.?

Thanks,

Sherm

You probably have a bad coolant temperature sensor that feeds back to the PCM.

I removed and reattached the wire to the coolant sensor, then I checked the Onboard Computer Diagnostics and it coded ok. The Check engine light went out, but we'll see in the next few days if it's ok.
