I replaced the electric drive motor for the power windows, the counter balance spring fell off. I installed the spring after replacing the motor and regulator assy to the window. The window operates but the spring loses all tension with the window in the down position.

What direction is this spring installed, does it have a preset tension. I have look at several manual but they fail to even mention the spring.

Best option is to take a peek at the other door and see how it is installed.

I agree. Or head over to a Chrysler parts department and have a peek in the parts book for that year truck. The dealer should be able to make you a copy or print it out from the parts computer.
