Belt Noise

1979 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham, 305 engine, 350 Tranny,AC

I replaced all of the belts last year. They have about 1000 miles on them. The old belts had a smooth back, the new ones are cogged. The belts were top quality Goodyear Belts. I can't get the belts to stop squealing. I have adjusted and readjusted, they are tightened to specs and still make noise.

Could this be because the smooth belt was replaced by a cog belt? I don't know what else it could be.

Thanks,

Sherm

Belts sound loose or glazed. Replace them with better quality Gates or Dayco belts.
