i have trouble with my compressor clutch. it keeps cutting in and out but it won't do it at an idle. it cools fine its just the cutting in and out when riding.i have a 91 astro van and my 88 bronco II is doing the same thing. i tried to add freon to my van but it would not take it. any ideas?

you cant guess at the amount of refrig to use. You need a qualified tech to check it out with guages.

I agree. A/C work is not DIY work without the proper tools and know how. Time for professional service.

If it cools properly leave it alone.AC systems cycle because of design if it didn't the compressor would explode. You can't compress a liquid, which you can get if the evaporator freezes. Before you work on ac I suggest understanding the theory of operation.
