1998 Ford Explorer Check Engine Light

My wife's 98 Ford Explorer has recently started getting the Check Engine Light. Some research I've done shows that this may be related to a recall on the chain tensioners and the intake gasket which are related to the intake manifold leaking vacuum around the upper and lower intakes. Two questions

1. Is there such a recall out there
2. Would this be a cause for the Check Engine Light

Thanks for your help

You must have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes. Try Autozone, they scan for free. That will tell you why the light is on.

There could be hundreds of reasons for the light to come on. You cannot guess.
