Older explorer slips into neutral.

When first staring my 93 Explorer in the morning and backing it out of the driveway, it has a tendency to slip back into neutral. If I play with the gear selector - park, D, back to R, etc it grabs again. Once I take off in drive, it go3s through the gears smoothly, and the problem won't repeat until the next morning when it is cold again.

Sounds like a wasted tranny. Last time the fluid and filter were serviced?

Shes got 107,000. Did fluid and filter at 45 and 90. Why do you think it only does it when cold?

Wasted pump perhaps (internal failiure). That is WAY too long on a fluid change. Every 25k for the fluid and filter.

Have a good tranny shop diagnose it and if it's deemed to be bad, drive it until a rebuild is needed.
