White smoke
White smoke is a problem with the head gasket or cracked heads. It is steam. Lots of times white smoke will come from the tail pipe after sitting overnight but it will go away after a few miles as the exhaust warms up this is normal condensation but if does not subside and continues to smoke like a steam engine look for head problems. Keep an eye on the water level in the radiator.

If it's white and sweet smelling, it's burning coolant as Michael stated.
This engine will grenade itself fast this way. Very known for this problem. The intake gasket leaks, makes milkshake out of the coolant and takes out the bottom end.
Rebuilt engine required (which will happen again and again)
