Intermittent horn -97 Escort

i have a '97 Ford Escort, 2.0L 4 Cylinder, 4-door, dual airbags.... the problem I am having is the horn intermittently sounding for 1-5 seconds at a time, since I hit it yesterday when someone cut me off? There is 1 bolt on either side of the steering whell collar.
I want to know how to safely remove the steering wheel to get to the horn contact behind the airbag, as well as checking and/or replacing the horn contact....

Please help,

p.s. the dealer wants $82 just to do a diagnostic to check the

And it's worth every penny. Because you can kill yourself by fooling around in the steering wheel with the air bag.

Time for professional service. Not a DIY repair if the problem rests in the steering column. Most times the air bag clockspring is at fault. Another DIY no-no.
