Intermittent horn -97 Escort

i have a '97 Ford Escort, 2.0L 4 Cylinder, 4-door, dual airbags.... the problem I am having is the horn intermittently sounding for 1-5 seconds at a time, since I hit it yesterday when someone cut me off? There is 1 bolt on either side of the steering whell collar.
I want to know how to safely remove the steering wheel to get to the horn contact behind the airbag, as well as checking and/or replacing the horn contact....

Please help,
Jason

p.s. the dealer wants $82 just to do a diagnostic to check the
problem.

And it's worth every penny. Because you can kill yourself by fooling around in the steering wheel with the air bag.

Time for professional service. Not a DIY repair if the problem rests in the steering column. Most times the air bag clockspring is at fault. Another DIY no-no.
