1999 Chevy Silverado 4WD front axles always turn

I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 4WD pickup that I bought used about 2 months ago. I just noticed that the front wheel's drive axles turn all the time, even when the switch is in 2 Hi. I'm referring to the shafts that have a boot on each end (which I assume is covering U-Joints) going to each front wheel. I know they're turning because my wife was driving it while in 2 High and I looked under it and I could see them turning. Is this right? It's not in 4WD because I can tell the difference in the way it steers if I turn sharp. I tested it on the yard and when I have it in 2 High it steers easy, but when I put it in 4 High it steers harder and scuffs the grass. The front drive axles on my 1989 Suburban do not turn when it's in 2 High. It has a straight axle with automatic locking hubs, so it's a totally different system.

It is normal for your axel to free wheel in 2wd, donít worry about it.
