electrical problem

1. I've got a 2001 Dodge Intrepid With a 2.7 L engine. Sometimes while going down the road, the engine will rev up, especially with the A/C on. It really gets to be hazardous when stopped behind another vehicle at a red light. I really have to put extra pressure on the brake pedal. Also, the A/C does not blow cold air all the time. Are these problems related, and what can I do to fix them?
2. Also, at night while driving, I've noticed that the headlights and instrument lights dim, just for an instant, inconsistantly. I have had the alternator checked, and was told nothing was wrong with it. Can you help me?

2001 vehicle, covered by the factory warranty. Dealer's problem, not yours. Let them handle it at no charge to you.
