Braking and Cruise control

Braking and Cruise control
I have a 1999 Chev Suburban. I am not sure of the model of the transmittion, but I have a 5.7 litre engine.
I have two problems and wonder if there is any relation after checking the repair manual. The steering wheel shimmies wheel braking, but not always. My first thought would be that the rotors need to be turned, but it does not happen all of the time. The repair manual (Haynes) talks about speed sensors in the tail of the transmittion that signal the brakes to stop evenly according to the speed.
I recently had the dealer replace the transmittion, but the cruise control intermittently stops working and will not always reset. I also wonder if this is due to speed sensor failure in the transmittion. Any hints? Could these be related?
